    1. Most of the time I don’t feel tired honestly. Even as a small child I averaged about 6 hours of sleep much to my parents’ frustration an ire. And they tried everything. They discovered the hard way that Benedryl had paradoxical side effects on me in their attempts to force me to sleep longer/sooner. And it just so happens my children are the same. My father has given me the speeches about how my children should be going to bed at 7pm, not 9pm. Most mornings they get up at 6:30am with little trouble so I’m not fighting that fight for an earlier bed time. I have been offered sleep meds at the old clinic before being put on Topamax because I complained I couldn’t stay asleep but they weren’t listening to me why that was a problem. The problem was Little Bear wasn’t staying asleep plus my own nightmares. The Topamax addressed the nightmares and Little Bear’s meds has now gotten him to sleep most of the night. So no, I’m not interested in sleep meds.

I’m assuming you’re asking due to the sleep pattern I’ve got going on right now. I will admit that right now it’s happening on purpose. It’s how I got through college back in the day and now I’m trying to juggle moving, family, and writing. If I had a job still I would be juggling that in too.

The biggest thing I have against sleep meds is I don’t have any control over how much sleep I get once that med is in my system. I’m out until that med has been processed through my body. I have children with special needs. So yea, I was a little miffed that my parents and my oldest son let me sleep through the morning today, but I get why they made the judgement call they did. If I could sleep in the living room through all that noise then I must have been really tired and if shit went down, they could wake me up in a hurry. In fact, what woke me up was Little Bear pitching a fit over a game.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, I know my sleep right now is not good. I know I’m paying for it. I know it’s the biggest reason my joints aren’t recovering from that lift when we bought the desks. I am pushing myself here and it is with intent. I have a fear though that if I back off that I won’t get stuff done.

I can only move and clean stuff in the apartment during the day and pretty much only during school days. So that limits me greatly there and leaves me with nights only to write.

I’m wondering how much of my difficulty/slowness with the writing that I’m not used to is from having not done it in awhile, brain fog from the meds that was never there before, and just plain being tired from all the moving stuff. I have no doubt it’s a combination.

It’s just a matter of finding a groove and a balance.

      1. I get it. It makes total sense. You’ve got a pile of crap going on right now and you’re powering through. It’s completely understandable.

      2. I just need to be careful not to burn myself out. You asking about sleep meds did make me step back and look at it – again – and ask myself what I’m doing. Today I decided not to go to the apartment at all. I just hurt too much and my parents are already babysitting my brother’s kids. Maybe instead I’ll move the computer that Little Bear uses upstairs and get it set up. Dad offered to let me set up the one I’m using now up there too. I suppose I could but I have my own back at the apartment. Tuxedo Cat’s computer though is doing something weird. The cooling fan is making an awful whining sound like it’s trying to die. No one likes to listen to it from what I understand. My hearing is going to shit so I don’t notice it much unless everyone has gone to bed and it’s been left on. I’ll talk to Dad on that. This computer isn’t bad and mine is still good. It would be the end of Tuxedo Cat’s world if he lost the ability to play Minecraft.

      3. You have a lot going on even without the apartment. I do get what you are saying though about wanting to be careful. I don’t have kids, so if I oversleep I’m not missing much. Getting more sleep could be very helpful, but only you know what you will be comfortable doing.
