Toad’s Weekly Assessment #11

It’s been a long week rough week on the toad home front. We started out strong, but a 5 day migraine hit. No aura with any of it oddly, unless you count a general sense of “malaise” leading up to it. But not surprisingly, Little Bear flipped himself – and me – back into night owl mode so I’m sure this plays a role in it.

At least I finished the week with a feast over at my favorite diner to celebrate surviving with my boys! And boy I’m not kidding, I ordered 3 plates just for myself. The shaved roast beef practically melted in your mouth and who knew tempura fried green beans could taste so good?

No, I couldn’t eat all of it so yes now I am a little concerned about hypomania kicking in. I think I’m alright. I think I just went a little overboard ordering food for myself last night. The boys all ordered their usual stuff. I took all the leftovers home. I’m not going to let that go to waste. So I’m hoping this was just a little over enthusiasm you get from a big victory. Yes, surviving a big migraine is a victory. Surviving that and the first week of school? HUGE victory. Getting myself to eat anything in significant amounts while taking this medication? Ultimate win.

Speaking of which, I noticed an up tick in appetite just before the migraine started here. I need to print these off and check to see if this was a fluke or if this is a pattern with the migraines. Because I’m not seeing a connection to mood and appetite yet. I really think this med is just squashing it down. Obviously at various points survival kicks in and demands food, but this week seem different. Hence why I’m trying to keep the food journal with my mood and migraine tracker. The other thing I’m seeing over time… I still prefer fatty and fried food. Red meats and cheese. And dining out.

Dad scolds me for that last one a lot but… I have deep rooted reasons for that one that I don’t think he will ever understand. You can take me out of the food service industry but I don’t think you’ll ever take the food service industry out of me – if that makes sense. Dining out in a way keeps me connected to a part of myself I feel I have lost. Maybe someday I’ll get it back.

Notes

  • I didn’t walk with Scholar Owl today, I tried to nap after scrambling to get the other two out the door and onto the bus but it was no good. So I spent the day wasting away on Minecraft trying to figure out how to come up with a randomly generated town with a dungeon underneath it using TerrainControl. I’m exhausted and I only hope that Scholar Owl followed his school schedule today because I didn’t pay attention.

Meals

  • 4 cups coffee
  • tempura fried green beans, roast beef with mushrooms and rice – and I tasted the spaghetti plate I ordered

Notes

  • I don’t know when the headache pain finally lifted in the afternoon I felt STARVING and semi euphoric, the only thing I failed to do with this migraine this time around was document the start of my menses. Peak of the migraine hit when menses was finished. The day menses end isn’t really useful information though on the hormonal cycle, bleh. I was never good at documented that – EVER. But with these migraines and mood cycles I need to “get good” (to borrow the gamer phrase) but the migraines at least seem to be connected to it. Being able to start planning ahead for them would be nice.
